Vendor FAQ

by Crystal Ho, June 23, 2014
With over 1 million active shops and 60 million unique visitors per month, Etsy is the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods. Its mission is to re-imagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world. Follow Etsy blog to get their latest news.

You need to have an active Etsy shop. Opening an Etsy shop is free.

To open a shop, go to  http://etsy.me/1zjpaYt to get your first 40 listings free.

Already have an active Etsy shop? You can apply to be a vendor here.

Each vendor must be in attendance for the entire duration of the fair. You will be responsible for security in your space and agree not to leave the space unattended. You agree to follow the safety procedures and directions of Etsy Vancouver Market or our market volunteers. You agree to the use of your name and photos of your creations in promotions related to the event and to the use of any photos from the day of the event for any further promotions for future fairs. All vendors are responsible for paying any applicable sales tax to the CRA if applicable.
By participating in Etsy Vancouver Market, all makers agree to exhibit their work at their own risk.

• Please note that all vendors are responsible for obtaining their own public and product liability insurance policy, as we accept no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged goods and accept no responsibility for personal injury to the artist or to persons at the fault of the artist.

Please check with your own insurance company for more information or contact us and we can help direct you to insurance companies that can help.

We request that all of our vendors to provide 30 to 50 small items for use swag bags that will be given to the first 100 shoppers at the show. These items can be something like a coupon, small sampling of work, button, magnet, etc. Get creative, but don’t eel overwhelmed. This is not compulsory, but we recommend it as swag bags are really popular with shoppers and can lead to sales during and after the show! The trick to gaining fans and future shoppers is to donate a collection of small, affordable but desirable items – and be sure to affix your business card or other branding. We recommend your item to be a small sampling of your product or other tangible item that will remind people of your business. If you are unsure of what to give or have questions, please let us know and we’ll be happy to provide suggestions.

Yes. We strongly suggest that vendors come prepared with a non-wireless-based payment system in the unlikely event of a wi-fi malfunction.

No. Since the application process will be super competitive, we will only allow you to sell what you have listed, or similar. If you really want to change or add to your shop, please contact us to discuss further.
Yes, but in fairness to other vendors, it cannot exceed your allotted space , and not be obstructive in any way to your neighbours.
There is a $5 entrance fee and 50% proceeds will go to our local charitable partner. Read this blog post to learn about what we have done in the past.
